25 Nov On Wine: Wines for Thanksgiving
Food writers at this time of year are always looking for a new angle on Thanksgiving. The reality is that most people have family traditions for the holidays and stick to them. They may opt for a new side dish, but not a radically different take on turkey.
You could shake things up by choosing a radically different wine, but most people (me included) stay with the tried-and-true there, too. At my table, that means red wine, usually pinot noir or a Rhône-style wine such as syrah, grenache or a blend. While I love wines from far and wide, because this is one of the most American of holidays, I pour something domestic.
