Event: Drama: “Pneumonia” – Who are the Key Actors?
The Coalition for the Rational and Safe Use of Medicines (CoRSUM) marked World Pneumonia Day with a National Conference in the country’s capital, Chisinau. The conference led to the signing of a “Call to Action” statement, which included concrete suggestions in support of a national plan to fight pneumonia.
A week later, government, CoRSUM, and other partners created the Moldovian Governmental Multidisciplinary Committee, a coalition of civil society and professional bodies tasked with monitoring and promoting the rational use of medicines for the country. The committee will focus on antibiotics, antimicrobial resistance, and vaccination.
Another prominent part of the campaign was a booklet called “Drama: Pneumonia – Who are the Key Actors.” The booklet, produced in Russian and Romanian, depicts stories of pneumonia survivors and key facts about the disease, targeted at stakeholders, including family doctors, pharmacists, teachers, parents, and policy makers. Children presented the booklet to the Government of Moldova at the National Conference.
Information about World Pneumonia Day and the National Conference were broadcast over the internet to surrounding countries: Ukraine, Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus, and Turkmenistan.
