PINGLA (West Midnapore): About 45 children fell ill at Katapukur village in Number 6 gram panchayat under Pingla police station after they were administered polio drops on Sunday. Locals alleged that the vaccine had expired. The district health department authorities are looking into the matter.
The Pulse Polio programme was going on in Katapukur Angshik Buniyadi Vidyalaya in the village on Sunday morning. Some of the infants started falling ill after taking the polio drops. Soon, the locals started an agitation, claiming that the expiry date printed on the vaccine container was December 2010.
