World Immunization Week

April 24, 2017 - April 30, 2017

Overview

World Immunization Week (WIW) 2017 will be held from April 24 through April 30.

This week-long initiative began in 2010 and is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance and value of immunization and ultimately reaching vulnerable populations with these lifesaving resources. During WIW, regions and countries carry out core immunization activities on the ground and global partners highlight immunization issues to a range of audiences.

Social Media

WHO has developed a social media kit with daily content to share with your stakeholders and partners during WIW 2017.

Stop Pneumonia has created a package of shareable graphics for you to use based on WHO’s daily themes. Feel free to share these with your audience through your social media channels.

During WIW 2017, #VaccinesWork will be the main hashtag for digital media efforts.

Core Messaging

While it is widely accepted that vaccines are effective in preventing various diseases, there are challenges to overcome in order to reach the many children, adolescents, and adults who need vaccines. To bring light to these issues and to encourage a unified advocacy effort, this year’s WIW key messages are:

  • Vaccines save and improve lives
  • Yet too many people still don’t have access to vaccines.
  • Together we can go further and help make #VaccinesWork for more people.
